Heerema Marine Contractors Completes Final Campaign of Five-Year Aker BP Program

Heerema Marine Contractors has successfully installed the Production Wellhead Platform (PWP) topside and Flare for client Aker BP, marking the completion of a five-year collaboration supporting the development of the Yggdrasil and Valhall PWP-Fenris developments on the Norwegian Continental Shelf.

Installed by Heerema’s semi-submersible crane vessel Sleipnir, the PWP topside weighs more than 16,500 tonnes and is the second-largest structure ever lifted and installed by the vessel.

The installation concludes an extensive offshore program that began in 2024 and involved the transport and installation of nearly 95,000 tonnes of offshore structures. Over three years of offshore execution, Heerema installed: 

  • four lift jackets;

  • one launch jacket;

  • 56 piles, a pre-drilling module;

  • two pre-drilling decks

  • a bridge;

  • four topsides;

  • two flare structures;

  • and several smaller offshore structures.

As the final structure is now in place, Heerema looks back with pride on a partnership that has delivered some of the largest offshore installations in the company's recent history. Beyond the individual milestones, the program demonstrates what can be achieved when engineering expertise, careful planning, and strong teamwork come together to create the offshore infrastructure needed to support future energy security.
