Heerema Marine Contractors is proud to announce that it has been awarded significant contracts by MFW Bałtyk II Sp. z.o.o. and MFW Bàłtyk III Sp. z.o.o., each a joint venture project owned 50% by Equinor and 50% by Polenergia.
The Bałtyk 2 and Bałtyk 3 projects are approximately 27 km and 40 km from the port of Leba. The scope of the contracts includes the transportation and installation of 100 monopiles and transition pieces, sourced from European fabrication yards and installed in the Baltic Sea. Additionally, Heerema will handle the transportation and installation of offshore substation jackets and topsides.
Heerema will utilize its heavy lift vessel, Thialf, for these critical operations. The Thialf’s advanced capabilities and motion compensated gripper frame make it ideally suited for the complex and demanding tasks associated with these large-scale offshore wind projects.
"We are extremely honored to have been selected for these pivotal projects in the Baltic Sea," said Jeroen van Oosten, Chief Commercial Officer of Heerema Marine Contractors. "These contracts underscore our commitment to supporting the global energy transition and enhancing Poland’s energy security."
The Bałtyk 2 & 3 wind farms are expected to have a combined generation capacity of 1440 MW, which will supply electricity to more than two million households.
Heerema Marine Contractors is dedicated to delivering excellence in offshore construction and is excited to contribute to these landmark projects that will provide lasting benefits to the region and its people.
