Ongoing investigations into the hybridization of our vessels are part of the Optimize pillar within our Net-Zero Roadmap.

Investigating batteries onboard our vessels
The investigations of this theme are looking into safely and economically installing Electric Energy Storage (EES) or batteries onboard our vessels. The aim of the EES is to serve as ‘spinning reserve’ or back-up power, allowing less engines to run during operations and thereby prevent emissions.
Currently, conceptual design studies for our vessels are being performed. Preliminary results show promising efficiency improvements, potentially resulting in emission saving.
