Heerema Marine Contractors has received the first MHU4400S hydraulic hammer system from Menck, Acteon’s Marine Foundations business line. This delivery marks an important milestone in our long-standing relationship with Acteon and supports Heerema’s strategy to continuously elevate the performance, predictability, and efficiency of offshore foundation installations.
Strengthening Heerema’s equipment portfolio
The new MHU4400S will be added to Heerema’s specialist equipment portfolio, supporting our offshore crew as they take on increasingly complex offshore projects. Equipped with an innovative Menck Noise Reduction Unit (MNRU) and delivered with dedicated transport cradles, tools, and consumables, the hammer enhances our offshore installation capabilities while helping us meet stringent environmental regulations.
Seamless integration into existing operations
The hammer has been developed to align smoothly with Heerema’s existing power, control, and lifting systems. This compatibility allows the MHU4400S to be deployed efficiently across a wide variety of offshore foundation installation campaigns.
Supporting large-scale offshore projects
As offshore energy projects continue to scale, the MHU4400S strengthens Heerema’s capacity to deliver safe and predictable installation work. Its robust performance and adaptability make it suitable for diverse project environments and challenging seabed conditions.
Heerema Marine Contractors’ CEO, Marcel de Nooijer, adds: “At Heerema, we continue to invest in the assets that set us apart in the offshore industry. High quality equipment gives our offshore crew what they need to deliver results for our clients, no matter the complexity of the project. The arrival of this first new hammer is another step in continuously strengthening our tools and capabilities to deliver the best operational performance.”
“We are proud to support Heerema with the delivery of the first MHU 4400S hammer system. Our long-standing collaboration is built on technical alignment, operational trust and a shared commitment to delivering complex offshore projects safely and efficiently. We look forward to continuing this partnership as Heerema strengthens its fleet for the next generation of offshore developments.”- Jochem Scherpenisse, EVP of Marine Foundations at Acteon.
Increasing flexibility and installation capacity
Adding this new hammer expands Heerema’s available pile-driving capacity and contributes to greater operational uptime and project predictability. With two identical MHU4400S systems available, Heerema gains increased planning flexibility and can respond quickly to upcoming project requirements.
The second MHU4400S hammer system is scheduled for delivery in October 2027.
