Heerema's workhorse

Before the introduction of Sleipnir in 2019, Thialf was the world’s largest SSCV and had set the records to prove it! In 2000, Thialf set a world record by lifting the 11,883 metric ton Shearwater topside located in the North Sea as well as the world's largest SPAR platform.

The vessel is often referred to as Heerema's workhorse for its ability to get the work done, regardless of the job, location, or weather!

Track record

Thialf has a long history of executing successful projects, here are some highlights:

Project highlights

1995: Installing the pylon of the Erasmus Bridge (built by Heerema Fabrication Group).
1998: Decommissioning the Brent Spar.
2004: Installing the topsides on BP’s Holstein, at the time the world’s largest spar.
2005: Installation of the heaviest single-piece foundation piles: 2.74 meter diameter x 190 meters long, weighing 818 t each for Chevron’s Benguela Belize compliant tower.
2017-2018: Johan Sverdrup Complex. Taking part in the development of the Johan Sverdrup oil field.
2020: Executing the Sable Island removal project for ExxonMobil with roughly 48,000 metric tons of steel removed over eight months.
