Your role in the story

As an Enterprise Architect, you will be the driving force behind the establishment and evolution of our Architecture competence at Heerema. Your primary mission is to align our IT infrastructure with business goals, ensuring that our digital landscape is robust, scalable, and future proof. You will take a holistic view of our business processes, design and enforce architectural standards, and support solution design and integration efforts.

In this role, you'll be a key advisor to senior management, bridging the gap between business needs and IT capabilities, particularly as our organization navigates through digital transformation alongside our day-to-day offshore operations. Our IT infrastructure is unique and challenging, supporting the largest crane vessels in the world to ensure our offshore projects run seamlessly. Your work will be pivotal in making the impossible possible offshore.

What you will be working on:

You will maintain a comprehensive view of the IT landscape, ensuring it aligns with business processes and consistently delivers value. You will be instrumental in integrating business needs with IT capabilities, driving operational efficiency, and keeping strategies aligned. Additionally, you’ll conduct gap analyses to identify discrepancies between current and future IT capabilities, recommending solutions that align with the organization’s strategic objectives.

You will support portfolio management by ensuring that architecture activities across programs, projects, and products are coordinated and evolve cohesively. Developing and applying minimal viable architectures, including setting standards and reference patterns, will also be part of your responsibilities.

Your key responsibilities include:

  • Contribute to the establishment and continuous development of the Enterprise Architecture (EA) function to ensure it delivers significant value across the organization.
  • Defining and implementing governance principles that guide transparent and consistent architectural decisions.
  • Fostering strong relationships across the organization to facilitate collaboration and consistent decision-making within established architectural boundaries.
  • Ensuring the architecture remains consistent and adaptable, working closely with infrastructure teams to meet evolving organizational needs.

Is This the Job for You?

You are an entrepreneurial professional with a strong ability to inspire and create buy-in across the organization. Your strategic vision and persuasive communication skills enable you to effectively convince stakeholders at board level, driving alignment and support for architectural initiatives. You possess excellent written, verbal, communication, and presentation skills in English, allowing you to articulate new ideas and concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences with clarity and impact. Additionally, your outstanding analytical, planning, and organizational abilities ensure that you approach challenges with precision and deliver results efficiently.

Key ingredients for success:

  • Master’s or bachelor’s degree in business, computer science, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Ideally 10+ years of experience in strategic and operational planning, business analysis, or enterprise architecture consulting, with expertise in at least three areas such as business, solution, or technical architecture.
  • Proficient in business ecosystems, cloud services (SaaS, IaaS, PaaS), SOA, APIs, microservices, event-driven IT, and predictive analytics.
  • Familiar with Agile and Lean methodologies (preferably SCRUM and Kanban), ITIL frameworks, and EA tools like ArchiMate and BPMN.
  • Knowledgeable about current and emerging technologies, including generative AI.
  • Fluent in English is key, fluently in Dutch would be an advantage.

Your future colleagues:

You will collaborate closely with IT and Digitalization as well as other colleagues across our departments.
