A unique maritime adventure

At Heerema Marine Contractors, we do something new every day. We operate the world's largest crane vessels and with them we transport, install and remove offshore structures for the offshore energy markets. Our projects range from installing wind turbines, removing retired offshore oil and gas platforms and installing platforms up to 50,000 metric tons. By joining us, you will play an important part in our unique maritime adventure.

As Assistant Engineer Tug you can start your mechanical career and will be trained and guided by Engineers 1 and 2 to maintain the mechanical equipment and automation systems on board of our crane vessels and to detect and repair malfunctions. You are the ship's trouble-shooter when it comes to various mechanical issues and challenges. We will make sure that you will receive plenty of training sessions and courses to help you master the systems and keep your knowledge up-to-date to develop yourself to an Engineer 2 or 1 or maybe eventually even higher? 

In this position you will work closely with our experienced and professional Engineers who will guide you in your development.

Is this the job for you?

You have recently obtained your Bachelor degree at the Higher Maritime School and or an equivalent oriented technical Bachelor degree. Furthermore you have excellent reporting skills, a practical mind and flexible attitude. The ability to communicate in a strong and clear manner, both in Dutch and English, is essential.

Heerema has a 5 weeks on / 5 weeks off working schedule but this may fluctuate due to the nature of our activities.
