Lead Accountant

Responsibilities

As the Lead Accountant you will play a pivotal role in maintaining the financial health of our organization by:

Team Leadership:

  • Manage and lead the Accounting and Accounts Payable team, ensuring smooth daily operations;
  • Provide guidance, mentorship, and support to team members to enhance their professional growth and development;
  • Foster a collaborative and high-performing team environment.

Financial Operations:

  • Manage all accounting functions, including journal entries, reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance;
  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of invoices, payments, and expense reports;
  • Monitor and improve the accounts payable processes, identifying opportunities for efficiency.

Compliance and Reporting:

  • Ensure compliance with company policies, tax regulations, and financial reporting standards;
  • Prepare and review accurate financial statements, reports, and reconciliations for internal and external stakeholders;
  • Prepare audit schedules and liaise with auditors during external audits.

Collaboration:

  • Work closely with the Lead Controller and other departments to support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analyses;
  • Provide insights and recommendations to improve financial performance and cost control.
Education and experience
  • A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field;
  • At least 5 years of accounting experience, with a minimum of 2 years in a supervisory role;
  • Solid knowledge of accounting principles, standards, and regulations (e.g. GAAP, IFRS);
  • Experience in ERP systems and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

You will work at the Heerema Vlissingen yard in Nieuwdorp.
